Family Physicians receive 3 years of intense training after completing medical school in preparation for providing a broad range of medical care for people of all ages. Essentially, Family Doctors can provide care for the most common and frequent medical problems of most people. They are also in the best position to sort out when medical problems require specialist care, and to make recommendations and referrals to specialty care when needed. Training includes prompt recognition of serious, urgent, and life-threatening situations requiring efficient referral to appropriate resources.
Dr. Freshley has special interest in medical treatment of mood disorders; health promotion; preventive care; minor surgical procedures such as mole removal, ingrown toenail removal, wart destruction/removal, surgical treatment of acute abscesses, joint injections for pain, ear wax removal, skin biopsy, laceration repair, burn and other wound care, removal of foreign bodies (splinters, embedded body jewelry, etc), keloid injections, cryotherapy for precancerous skin lesions, asthma breathing treatments, ganglion cyst aspiration/injection.
Limited in-office diagnostic testing includes urinalysis, pregnancy testing, strep throat testing, mononucleiosis testing, and TB skin testing.
